In 2012, Peterborough came second in a competition run by the Technology Strategy Board, (now Innovate UK), and was awarded £3million to test, develop and implement new concepts and ideas, harnessing the power of data and technology, in a bid to make our City a better place to live work and invest.
Our work has seen us recognised as the World Smart City 2015, deliver a vision for Peterborough to become the UK’S first Circular City, input into the BSI Smart City Standards, develop a Future City Leadership programme and provide a vision, roadmap and toolkit for other aspiring smart cities across the world to adopt.
Peterborough DNA is being delivered by Opportunity Peterborough and Peterborough City Council focussing on growth, innovation and sustainability across the city.
Opportunity Peterborough and Peterborough City Council are leading a partnership made up of local businesses and third sector organisations, with vital input from local consultancies, to deliver the programme’s objectives.
Peterborough DNA is built on the excellent work and innovation already underway in the city and set out how Peterborough could be transformed through economic and environmental sustainability.
Just as the bid was successful through the strength of the partnership generated to make the submission, so will close collaboration between organisations in all sectors be vital for the successful delivery of the programme.
